To begin our expedition we looked at many mystery objects. We realized that our expedition was about food! Next we went to Bill Wilson's farm. He asked us to help him market his apples. We said, "Yes!" We had a lot to do! We had visitors teach us about My Plate. We visited places to buy food like Bemidji's Natural Choice Farmer's Market. We also worked on plant life cycles. Next we visited a bakery to learn about food tools. Local producers visited us. We learned about all of these things to help us decide that we wanted to make Bill a website. We included all of this important information to educate people about local food and advertise for local producers. We hope you like our website!
Food For Thought

This is a picture of My Plate that we made in Nikki's crew. My Plate is special because it tells you to eat healthy. My Plate is a good choice to eat. We can eat different varieties of foods. You need to have a certain amount in each group. The groups in My Plate are fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy. An important thing to remember is that half of your plate should be fruit and vegetables. To learn more about My Plate visit the United State Department of Agriculture's website: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/

We read the book, Stone Soup. We made a list of vegetables for cooking Stone Soup. Then we went shopping at the Farmer's Market. We bought the vegetables and brought them to school. We found the stones outside by the lake. It took a whole day to cook.
