Why Local?

The first graders decided to create a website to educate people about local food and advertise for local producers.
We decided to include other local producers instead of just Bill so everyone can buy more food locally.
We think that buying and eating local is important for many reasons. Here they are!
The first graders decided to create a website to educate people about local food and advertise for local producers.
We decided to include other local producers instead of just Bill so everyone can buy more food locally.
We think that buying and eating local is important for many reasons. Here they are!
- Local food is fresh and often healthy.
- Local food doesn't go through a longer process to get to you. This means that there are fewer chemicals to preserve it.
- You can get things grown locally that you can't find at the grocery store like kohlrabi from Paul's farm.
- It takes a lot of gas to get food from far away. This can get expensive.
- When food travels a long way from across the country or across the world, it has to travel on trains, boats, planes or trucks. This puts more pollution into the air and water. Buying local means less pollution.
- Local food keeps money in our community. It goes to ....
