Paul Conklin, local farmer, came to visit our classroom to teach us about his farm. Paul grows vegetables and sells them to people. To keep your vegetables, Paul taught us that you can can them in a jar or freeze them. Paul grows different varieties of pumpkin and potatoes. He grows vegetables that you can't find in the the grocery stores - like kohlrabi. We think people should buy local food because it does not have to be shipped from a far away place.

Cheryl and Dale Krystosek sell their produce and baked goods at Bemidji's Natural Choice Farmer's Market. We bought vegetables from them when we visited the market and used them to make Stone Soup. Cheryl makes baked goods to sell at the market. She gave us muffins to eat.
